In March 2025, Ichigo Bloom facilitated a Biodiversity Collage workshop in Yokohama, bringing together professionals and changemakers to explore the critical issue of biodiversity loss. The event, hosted by the Yokohama SDGs Design Center, provided a collaborative space for participants to deepen their understanding of the challenges facing our natural world and brainstorm solutions for a sustainable future.
The Yokohama SDGs Design Center is a hub for sustainability initiatives in Yokohama, dedicated to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The center focuses on fostering collaboration between local governments, businesses, and citizens to drive meaningful change and create a more sustainable future. By hosting events and workshops, the center aims to educate and inspire the community to take action on pressing environmental issues.

The Biodiversity Collage is an innovative and engaging workshop that utilizes a set of 39 science-backed cards to illustrate the causes and consequences of biodiversity loss. Participants work together to explore the intricate tapestry of life on Earth and identify potential solutions that promote sustainable practices. The workshop aims to empower individuals and teams to contribute positively to biodiversity conservation efforts.
During the session, participants engaged in lively discussions and collaborative activities, fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world and the importance of preserving it. The workshop highlighted the interconnectedness of species and their vital roles in maintaining healthy ecosystems, emphasizing the need for collective action to protect and restore nature.
Rina Muroi, from B Corp publishing company Harch, who participated in the session, reflected on the overall experience: “The Biodiversity Collage workshop was so engaging that the three hours flew by. Although the topic is complex, the creative way it’s presented made it easy to appreciate the wonder of biodiversity. By the end, participants felt grateful for the rich ecosystems around us and the experience of being human today.”
The workshop also featured a presentation by Yu Kato, the CEO of Harch. Yu shared insights on nature-positive initiatives, highlighting the importance of integrating practices that benefit nature into business operations. His presentation added valuable depth to the discussions and underscored the need for a holistic approach to sustainability.
