Bringing Climate Education to International High School Students in Tokyo

This workshop was a milestone for Ichigo Bloom, as it was our first Climate Fresk session held at a high school in Japan. Led by facilitators Minami Shinohara and Mahi Patki, with the support of Daiki Yamaguchi, a University of Tokyo student, the session introduced students to the science of climate change in a dynamic and interactive way.

The students, fresh from their exam week, explored the cause-and-effect relationships behind climate change through the Climate Fresk’s 42 science-based cards, which are rooted in IPCC reports. This hands-on method allowed them to connect the dots between human activities, environmental consequences, and potential solutions.

The impact of this session extended beyond the classroom. The British School in Tokyo later partnered with us to help promote the Giant Climate Fresk workshop that we organized for COP29 at Tokyo University, reinforcing our shared commitment to sustainability education.

We also joined BST’s Spring Fair this year, where we ran a Climate Fresk quiz — a fun and interactive activity that engaged visiting families and sparked meaningful conversations about climate action.
