On November 30th, 2024, Ichigo Bloom organized in Tokyo a special session of the Biodiversity Collage workshop in partnership with two NPOs dedicated to animal welfare in Japan, Animal Welfare Corporate Partners Japan (AWCPJ) and Think about Animal Welfare of Farm animals (TAF).
Facilitated by Minami Shinohara, the workshop brought together participants from diverse backgrounds to explore the intricate connections between biodiversity, ecosystems, and animal welfare. Using scientifically grounded cards based on the IPBES report, participants collaboratively mapped out the causes and consequences of biodiversity loss and discussed actionable solutions.
Maho Uehara, Executive Director of AWCPJ, and Miyabi Takano, Representative of TAF, brought valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities surrounding animal welfare in Japan. Their perspectives enriched the discussions, highlighting the critical role of animal welfare in maintaining healthy ecosystems.
Reflecting on the session, Ichigo Bloom’s Minami shared: “When we think about biodiversity, we sometimes think about ecosystem services that we as humans receive from nature. This was a good opportunity for me to reaffirm the feelings of animals and our responsibilities.”
This workshop was part of Ichigo Bloom’s 2024 pro-bono initiative, offering sustainability education workshops to non-profit organizations across Japan.
Ichigo Bloom offers climate and biodiversity collaborative workshops such as the Climate Fresk and the Biodiversity Collage, to raise awareness and ignite change within organizations in Japan.
