Among Ichigo Bloom’s key achievements in 2024 was the successful organization of a giant Climate Fresk session in Tokyo, alongside UTokyo GXSN and Climate Fresk Japan. This landmark event brought together over 130 participants and facilitators, setting a new national record for a public session of the Climate Fresk!
On the 10th of November at the University of Tokyo, 20 groups simultaneously delved into the root causes and far-reaching consequences of the escalating climate crisis. Guided by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports, participants examined how human activities have impacted Earth’s climate through a gamified, card-based approach.

Before concluding the session, each group shared their key climate action by writing it on the blackboard for all to see. The final display was a vibrant collection of actionable ideas, reflecting the commitment of everyone in the room!

A few comments from participants after the workshop
“Everybody probably does not understand climate change as much as they think they do. Everything is connected in our world and we really need to take urgent action together.”
“I had never considered that agriculture contributes to carbon dioxide emissions, nor that all human activities ultimately impact global climate change.”
“Recognizing that we ourselves—as a company, as consumers, and as individuals—are part of the mechanisms driving climate change.”
“The climate needs more attention than ever!”

The power of collective effort
Most importantly, this event was made possible by the unwavering support of our community! From volunteer facilitators and partner organizations to family and friends, each contribution played a vital role.
The Giant Climate Fresk was organized under the patronage of the Embassy of France in Japan and as part of AlterCOP’s Japan chapter — an initiative to support regional events in parallel with COP 29.
This public session also benefited greatly from our partner organizations, who actively promoted the event within their communities. Our heartfelt thanks go to The British School in Tokyo, Rugby School Japan, Global Indian International School, Wanna Gonna, B Market Builder Japan, SEGO Initiative, mymizu/Social Innovation Japan, the European Business Council in Japan (EBC), One Young World Japan, and EcoLimms.
Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to everyone working behind the scenes—the dedicated organizing team, talented photographers, enthusiastic MC, and incredible volunteer facilitators. Together, we’ve made significant strides in advancing climate literacy in Japan!
