We’re excited to announce that the Plastic Collage (プラスチック・コラージュ), an educational workshop that helps participants understand the life cycle of plastics and their global impacts, is now available in Japanese!
Developed in France by the nonprofit Fresque du Plastique, this collaborative workshop has already been facilitated in over 16 countries, bringing together several thousand participants and a network of more than 100 trained facilitators worldwide.
Ichigo Bloom is proud to be spearheading the introduction of the Plastic Collage in Japan, where plastic overconsumption remains one of the country’s major sustainability challenges. The Japanese version now allows organizations, schools, and communities to experience this impactful learning tool in their own language.
Just like its sister workshops Climate Fresk and Biodiversity Collage, the Plastic Collage combines scientific rigor with collective intelligence. Over two to three hours, participants explore how plastics are made, used, and disposed of, uncovering the environmental, social, and health issues linked to overconsumption. The session ends with a discussion on solutions and actions at both individual and systemic levels.

The Japanese translation of the Plastic Collage was led by Ichigo Bloom member Sakura Hamaoka, with support from fellow members Mei Mitsui, Kozue Sasaki, and Stéfan Le Dû. We were also fortunate to receive valuable help from Kaede Misawa, a Master’s student in sustainability based in Germany, as well as the kind support of Plastic Collage co-creator Philippe Reutenauer.
Our first Japanese-language session took place last Saturday as part of a youth-focused event bringing together university and high school students. It was co-organized by Ichigo Bloom, UTokyo GXSN and MyMizu/Social Innovation Japan. The workshop offered a lively introduction to the topic, through dialogue, reflection, and creativity. It was very well received by our Japanese participants.
If you’d like to organize a session for your company, university, or community group, learn more on our dedicated page!

Ichigo Bloom offers climate and biodiversity collaborative workshops such as the Climate Fresk and the Biodiversity Collage, to raise awareness and ignite change within organizations in Japan.
