Sustainability Starts Here: Learn, Connect, Imagine | AlterCOP Japan | 9th November, Minato, Tokyo

A creative, bilingual sustainability event in the heart of Tokyo. Join us on November 9 in Minato City for AlterCOP 30 Japan, where you’ll explore climate, biodiversity, pollution, and more through fun, collaborative workshops used around the world. No lectures, no jargon: just hands-on learning and big ideas, for everyone, in English or Japanese.

Learn. Connect. Imagine. A hands-on sustainability event for everyone.

On Sunday 9th November, join us in Minato City for the Japanese edition of AlterCOP 30 – a unique, volunteer-led event where people come together to learn about the challenges facing our planet and explore how we can take action together.

Rather than lectures or panel discussions, AlterCOP Japan is built around powerful interactive workshops that help participants connect the dots between climate change, biodiversity, pollution, and systemic solutions.

Whether you’re a student, a parent, a professional, or simply curious, this is an inclusive and welcoming space to explore sustainability through collaborative, accessible, and engaging formats. No prior knowledge is required: just bring your curiosity and an open mind.

Participants will join one of five collaborative workshops, held in parallel during the event:

  • Climate Fresk: Understand the science behind climate change and how it all connects.
  • Biodiversity Collage: Discover the beauty and fragility of life on Earth, and how to protect it.
  • Planetary Boundaries Fresco: Explore the safe operating space for humanity on a finite planet.
  • Plastic Collage: Trace the journey of plastic from production to pollution — and what we can do.
  • Digital Collage: Reflect on the environmental and social impacts of our digital lifestyles.

These internationally recognized workshops have been used in schools, companies, and communities around the world. Now they’re coming together in one event, open to the public, right here in Minato City in Tokyo.

The event will be bilingual (English & Japanese). Groups will be formed based on participants’ language and theme preferences.

AlterCOP 30 Japan is co-hosted by sustainability education collective Ichigo Bloom and Minato City Industrial Promotion Center. It is  a part of AlterCOP 30, a regional initiative of people-powered climate action across Asia-Pacific, organized in parallel to the UN Climate Conference (COP30) taking place in Brazil this November.
