In October 2025, we had the privilege of bringing our science-based workshops to two of Japan’s leading international schools, traveling North of Tokyo to the cool mountains of Karuizawa and heading South to the vibrant port of Yokohama.
A global brainstorm at UWC ISAK Japan
Our first stop was UWC ISAK Japan in Karuizawa. We facilitated there a Climate Fresk for 35 Grade 10 students. With 26 nationalities in one room, it was our most international session to date!

Part of the school’s “Project Week,” the session focused on leadership and action. While many students started with daily habits like reducing plastic, one group truly blew us away. They spontaneously designed a blueprint for a national emissions trading scheme, concepts usually reserved for high-level policy discussions, demonstrating that 16-year-olds are more than ready to tackle systemic change.
Facilitated by our members Mahi, Sherrene and Stéfan, the workshop helped students turn climate science into a foundation for their own upcoming impact projects.
Breaking new ground at Yokohama International School
Moving South to Yokohama International School (YIS), we reached a new milestone. Facilitators Mei and Mahi led a Planetary Boundaries Fresco for 20 Grade 11 students.
This was particularly special as it marked the first time this specific workshop has been held in a high school in Japan. While the Climate Fresk focuses on climate change, the Planetary Boundaries Fresco looks at the broader Earth system, including biodiversity, water cycles and oceans acidification. The YIS students showed incredible maturity in navigating these interconnected environmental limits.

Bringing international science-based sustainability workshops to your campus
At Ichigo Bloom, we believe that education is one the most powerful tools for change. These sessions show that when students are given the right tools, like the 42 science-based cards of the Climate Fresk or the holistic view of Planetary Boundaries, they don’t just learn: they imagine change.
We offer a variety of other interactive formats, including the Digital Collage and Gender Equity Collage, tailored for high schools and universities. We can also train your staff and students to become facilitators themselves for workshops like Climate Fresk!
Are you looking to bring engaging, human-centered sustainability education to your institution? Get in touch with us today to discuss how we can support your students’ journey!

Ichigo Bloom offers climate and biodiversity collaborative workshops such as the Climate Fresk and the Biodiversity Collage, to raise awareness and ignite change within organizations in Japan.
