Event recap: “4 Workshops, 1 Planet” at Impact HUB Tokyo, April 2025

On April 20th, Ichigo Bloom hosted a special Earth Day event at Impact HUB Tokyo – an afternoon of learning, connection, and creativity through four hands-on sustainability workshops. Titled “4 Workshops, 1 Planet,” the event welcomed 40 participants from all walks of life who came to explore environmental challenges in a fresh, interactive way.

Four workshops, four perspectives

Participants chose one of four parallel workshops, each diving into a key environmental theme:

  • Climate Fresk (in English): A deep dive into the causes and consequences of climate change, with interactive card play and team-based discussion.
  • Biodiversity Collage (in Japanese): An exploration of the complexity and fragility of living systems – and the many ways human activity is impacting them.
  • Plastic Collage (in English): A workshop tracing the full lifecycle of plastic, from production to pollution, and sparking discussion on systemic solutions.
  • Planetary Boundaries Fresco (in English): A systems-thinking journey into the Earth’s critical boundaries and the pressures we place on them.

Each session was fully booked, and the room buzzed with energy as participants learned, questioned, and reflected together.

Connecting the Dots

While each workshop tackled a different topic, all came together at the end for a final shared session – connecting the dots across climate, biodiversity, plastic, and planetary systems. Participants presented one action idea from each workshop, which the Planetary Boundaries group then mapped across the Earth’s nine boundaries to show where they have positive impact (or trade-offs).

This short but powerful moment illustrated what Earth Day is all about: understanding how everything is connected, and that every step we take matters.

What participants said

“It wasn’t just a lecture – I liked that we used cards and worked as a team for active learning through discussion.

It was meaningful to bring together knowledge and perspectives from people with different backgrounds and find original answers as a team.

Climate change can be a difficult issue to relate to personally, but this workshop helped me confront the problem sincerely — and enjoy the process of exploring answers with others, even when there’s no single right solution.

Thank you!

Huge thanks to everyone who joined, and to our dedicated facilitators Mei, Karina, Sakura, Minami and Mahi who made each session special. We’re also grateful to Impact HUB Tokyo for generously hosting us and supporting this community-powered Earth Day event.
