Ichigo Sparks
One sustainability topic. One hour. Everyone included.

What are Ichigo Sparks?
Ichigo Sparks are one-hour interactive talks on sustainability themes, designed to be engaging and genuinely informative for any audience, regardless of prior knowledge. Led by our educators in Japanese or English, each session blends clear explanations, live quizzes and open discussion. The content is grounded in science, written for everyone. Sparks work well as a standalone session, and can also be combined with our full workshops like Climate Fresk and Biodiversity Collage, as a warm-up to set the context, or as a follow-up to explore a specific topic, industry or challenge in more depth.
When is a Spark the right format?
Your team is online
When participants are spread across cities, an online Spark gathers everyone at once, without the logistical challenge of a full in-person workshop.
Time is limited
A lunch break, an all-hands meeting, a conference slot. Sparks are designed to deliver something meaningful in the time you actually have.
For a custom angle
A specific industry, a company challenge, a policy question. When the topic calls for something tailored, we build a Spark around your context.
As a first step
For teams new to sustainability, a Spark can be an accessible introduction before a full workshop. Or a follow-up to go further on a specific theme.
Sample topics
Every Spark can be adapted or built from scratch around your team’s context. Here are some examples.
One Hour to Understand Climate Change
What’s behind the headlines? This talk unpacks the science of global warming, its causes and consequences, and the levers individuals and organizations can pull, with live quizzes and space for questions.
Decarbonization in Your Day Job
How does your daily work contribute to your organization’s carbon footprint, and what can you actually do about it? A practical, accessible session on the choices that add up.
Climate and the Food Industry
Food systems account for a significant share of global emissions. A clear, data-grounded look at the connection between what we eat and the climate – and the choices that matter most.
Climate Change in Video Games
From indie titles to major studios, the games industry is increasingly engaging with climate themes. A playful but substantive look at how digital culture is shaping environmental awareness.
Greenwashing: Spotting False Green Claims
How do you tell a genuine sustainability commitment from a marketing tactic? This session equips participants to read green claims critically, with real examples and a clearer sense of responsible communication.
Circularity in Fashion
From raw material to landfill, fashion has one of the largest environmental footprints of any industry. This talk traces the lifecycle of a garment and explores what a more circular model could look like.
Europe’s Green Deal
An accessible overview of Europe’s sustainability regulatory landscape, from carbon pricing to supply chain due diligence, and what it means for companies operating in or trading with Europe.

A few stories
Climate literacy for a global electronics brand
Tokyo, Japan
In 2024, our educators led a one-hour interactive talk for employees of Sony in Tokyo, with simultaneous online streaming for participants joining from other countries. The session explored the risks of greenwashing and the importance of building climate literacy across an organization, at every level, not just in sustainability teams.

Circularity in fashion for Earth Day
Online across Japan
As part of their Earth Day program, a major French fashion brand asked us to deliver a one-hour online session for their store employees across Japan. The theme was circularity in fashion, from the environmental cost of fast fashion to the principles of a more circular model. The online format allowed participants scattered across multiple cities to join at the same time.
Sustainability communication for future leaders
Bunkyo, Tokyo
At the Local Conference of Youth organized by Young Professionals in Foreign Policy (YPFP) Tokyo in 2024, we delivered a 45-minute talk for international students on corporate sustainability communication and green labels, helping a new generation of professionals build the critical thinking they will need in their careers. The session was followed by a Climate Fresk workshop with the same participants.
