2tonnes
Imagine your life in a low-carbon world. An immersive simulation game on climate and individual action, for anyone who wants to understand what a 2-tonne lifestyle actually looks like.

What is 2tonnes?
2tonnes is unlike any other workshop in our portfolio. It is an immersive simulation game where participants take on the challenge of reducing their carbon footprint to 2 tonnes of CO₂ per year by 2050 – the global target needed to meet the Paris Agreement. Starting from their own personalized carbon data, participants make individual and collective decisions across 8 rounds covering food, transport, housing, energy and more. The results appear in real time. Participants leave with a clearer picture of what a low-carbon life actually looks like, and a stronger sense of what they are personally ready to change.

How a session unfolds
What does it take to cut your carbon footprint to 2 tonnes by 2050? This workshop lets you find out, with your data and your team.
Personal footprint
Before the session, participants calculate their personal carbon footprint. This data becomes the starting point for the simulation.
Quiz
The session opens with a collaborative quiz, covering climate science and the key levers of the ecological transition.
Simulation
The heart of the workshop: 8 rounds of individual and collective decisions covering food, transport, housing, energy and more. The goal: reach 2 tonnes per person by 2050.
Debrief
The group steps back to review what the simulation revealed: what worked, what surprised them, and the trade-offs between choices.
Action
Each participant leaves with a personalized dashboard, and the option to commit to up to 4 concrete changes in their daily life.
A few stories
1000 participants in 1 day at Danone France
Paris, Lyon & Evian, France
At Danone France’s 2022 all-staff gathering, the company chose 2tonnes as the centrepiece of an ambition to build a shared sustainability culture. 1,000 employees participated simultaneously across three sites in Paris, Lyon and Evian, facilitated by 89 internal staff trained as facilitators. The session ended with every employee voting on the climate actions to prioritize within Danone France. See the video →

A climate day for 2,500 students at once
Cergy, France
At ESSEC Business School, one of France’s leading business schools, 2tonnes became the centrepiece of new student orientation, with 2,500 simultaneous participants. Students were asking what they could do, as citizens, as consumers, as future managers. The 2tonnes workshop answered that question in the most direct way possible. As one student put it: “I was worried it would be the kind of thing where you’re told what to do and what not to do, and you come out feeling anxious. But it was the opposite: more of a message of hope, because you see that there are real solutions.” See the video →
Making sustainability everyone’s business at Veolia
France, US, Middle East
For Veolia, the world’s largest environmental services company, sustainability is not a department: it’s the business. Since 2023, over 1,800 employees across France, the US and the Middle East have participated in 2tonnes workshops, including a session for 300 sales team members in Florida. The goal: ensure that the environmental dimension of their work is part of every employee’s culture, not siloed in a sustainability team.

Choosing the 2tonnes workshop for your collaborators is giving yourself the conditions to build a shared corporate culture around the challenge of the century.
— Laurence Peyraut, Secretary General, Danone France

While Climate Fresk focuses on the causes and consequences of climate change, 2tonnes takes participants to the next step: understanding how to take meaningful action. The two workshops work very well as a pair.
