Climate Fresk

Understand the climate system, together. A collaborative workshop based on international climate science, for anyone, regardless of prior knowledge.

How a session unfolds

Climate change can feel overwhelming from the outside. Inside a Climate Fresk session, the pieces start to fall into place.

Comprehension

In teams, participants use 42 illustrated cards based on IPCC science to piece together the causes and consequences of climate change.

Creativity

Participants add colors, sketches and personal touches to make their fresco their own, then give it a title.

Emotions

Participants share what they feel in front of climate change – anxiety, anger, hope… The group format turns a lonely worry into shared hopes.

Discussion & Actions

The session ends with a collective brainstorm: what can we do to tackle climate change? Participants leave with ideas built together.

When I first took part in a Climate Fresk, I loved how all participants, regardless of their level of knowledge, could ask questions openly, without embarrassment. That’s not how learning usually works in Japan. The collaborative format, where everyone has a role to play, makes all the difference.

We ran a Climate Fresk for nearly 30 participants in our university. The content worked for all: students with limited knowledge of environmental issues, graduate researchers, teachers… Everyone showed considerable enthusiasm. I had a very good time myself and highly recommend this workshop!
