We are excited to announce that the Ichigo Bloom collective is expanding its reach with the opening of a new Kansai branch! Our mission to provide innovative, engaging, and science-based sustainability education workshops now extends to cities such as Kyoto, Osaka, Kobe and their vicinity.
In Europe, workshops like the Climate Fresk and Biodiversity Collage have been embraced by schools, universities, businesses, and local governments everywhere, from major cities to small towns. Ichigo Bloom is committed to supporting the same widespread adoption of accessible sustainability literacy across Japan, ensuring that these vital educational resources reach every corner of the country.
Leading the expansion in Kansai is our new member Lauriane Jagault Onari, who has called Kyoto home since 2019 and just joined the Ichigo Bloom team.
With a background in pioneering projects for cultural institutions in France and government initiatives in Denmark and Japan, Lauriane brings a wealth of experience and passion for sustainability and cross-cultural exchanges.
Lauriane will collaborate with skilled facilitators based in Kansai, including Yoshimi Fukumura, a seasoned Climate Fresk facilitator who has conducted numerous workshops with students throughout the region.
“Japan is not just Tokyo, and there’s so much beauty and potential here in Kansai,” says Lauriane, the new Kansai Regional Coordinator for Ichigo Bloom.
We couldn’t agree more. Sustainability cannot remain centralized – it must be cultivated across every region, city, and town. Cities like Kyoto have been at the forefront of climate action in Japan – with decarbonization goals often more ambitious that the national targets.
As Kansai prepares for the World Expo in Osaka in 2025, we look forward to forging new partnerships and launching exciting projects with local stakeholders.
Lauriane will collaborate closely with Ichigo Bloom facilitators in Tokyo, as well as local certified facilitators across the Kansai region.
