Too Hot to Be Cool Beach Festival | Rock for Climate, 8 August 2026, Kamakura

This August, the Too Hot to Be Cool charity rock event series is going outdoors for the first time, and we’re proud to be support again! An all-afternoon beach rock festival at Zaimokuza Beach in Kamakura on Saturday 8th August, with 100% of ticket proceeds going to coastal forest restoration in the Philippines.

If you haven’t come across Too Hot to Be Cool before, a quick introduction. It’s a Tokyo-based volunteer-run charity rock event series running since April 2024. Across eight editions, Too Hot to Be Cool has raised nearly ¥1.5M for youth-led environmental NPOs in Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia, by booking great local bands and donating every yen of ticket sales to climate organizations.

This August’s edition is the 9th, and the first one outdoors. The setup is an umi no ie (summer beach house) with six bars and restaurants, a stage facing the ocean, and tables for the whole afternoon. Eight live acts spanning garage, surf, punk, funk rock, pop rock and more. Catch a band, swim, get a drink, come back for the next set. 100% of ticket proceeds go to Mangrove Matters PH, a youth-led Philippine NPO restoring mangrove ecosystems and supporting the coastal communities that depend on them.

What we’re contributing

The Ichigo Bloom team is supporting the Too Hot to Be Cool series in three concrete ways:

  • Organization and direction. Helping shape the format, the timeline, and the partnerships behind the scenes.
  • Sustainability content. Finding the best youth-led climate NPOs in Southeast Asia, through our network of contacts in the region.
  • Promotion. Sharing the event through our channels to help it reach beyond the regular rock crowd, including the people in our community who care about climate but might not usually think of a Saturday night gig as part of that.

If you’ve been to one of our workshops or events before, this is the same philosophy in a different format. If you haven’t, it’s never too late to join, and you can start with music on the beach this August.

See you on the sand!
